'My Brother's Monster' is a self-authored children's book that was written, composed, and illustrated over two semesters of university. The book explores the topic of mental health by following the relationship of a little girl and her older brother, who suffers from depression. I chose to represent depression as a physical monster who impacts their lives, as I believe that is much easier for children to grasp as a concept. I am really passionate about this project and love the characters that I created and the story I told with them.
'The Apartments' was a silent lift-the-flap book project that I worked on during my second year of university. It focussed on a block of apartments and the wide range of people who lived their, with details from each of their lives included through out. Although the project is incomplete, I did create a full dummy book which showed what would be on each page and in each apartment. These images are some of my favourite details from the spreads that I completed.
